Well it's been one week today since I came to live at my forever home with my forever family of Dad, Mom and my new big brother, Tucker. FRIDAY: Had company for dinner last night and I got to meet some of Mom and Dad's friends who come to dinner every Thursday. Well they thought I was just precious and they all made a big fuss over me. I liked that. They played with Tucker too so he wouldn't get jealous. At least that's what mom told me, frankly I don't understand why they would want to pay attention to the CAT when I'M around. :-) Mom and Dad think I'm the best pottying dog they have ever had I can go out and do my "business" before they even get the door closed sometimes. That's really nice when it's late at night or early in the morning and they want to jump right back in bed. But that's what I want too so we're all happy. SATURDAY: I let mom hear my pitiful whine today. She was in the bathroom getting dressed and I was out in the hall and Tucker was between me and her and I guess I was too afraid to go past him so I just whined and mom came running and made Tucker move. :-) Score one for the little sister.

Mickey continues to do well. He is learning that "the crate" is ok, even if it is in a hotel room, our car or our basement. He really is a sweetie and seems very healthy and happy.

November 14, 2008 We think she has multiple personalities. Angel is such a quite, little lady in the house. An a tuff girl when she is out side. She has already become best friends with the mailman.
Everyone in the neighborhood loves her and she is coming out of her shell. She and my grand daughter are also best friends, laying on the comforter and watching movies.
Too cute. I hope she likes her new home as much as we love her. |

Hi Lynne,
that! He is adjusting well and goes upstairs now all by himself . He loves to sleep in front of our younger
We bought him a squeaker ball and he LOVES it! Especially outside, he runs and gets it and then throws it up in the air by himself. The TV, ceiling fan, oven, microwave, hairdryer, etc. still startle him, but he is getting a little used to them and the other indoor noises hat he's not used to.
We love how he crosses his front legs when he lays down! Too bad he doesn't |

Tuesday, January 3, 2009 Hello everyone, Well, it has been a full 2 weeks, and it looks like Lyra has decided to keep us. I know that Frank and I are gushing like new parents, but we really cannot get over how wonderful this dog really is. She is smart, affectionate, and has a very funny personality. She definitely knows the commands of sit, shake, and leave it. We've been able to teach her to lie down and wait in the 2 weeks that we've had her. She already knows us as her family, and while she barks at the mailman, she doesn't bark at us when we're coming up to the door. She has rolled onto her back and showed me her belly (all four feet and nose comically up in the air) three times in the past two weeks, so I think she has decided we are her pack. She has been a perfectly behaved young lady in the house, and she's a spirited lass on our walks. Frank has even taken her jogging a few times, and reports that she makes him feel old and slow. Lyra has been perfectly respectful of our cat, and a peace accord has been successfully negotiated. They are able to be on the same piece of furniture, within a couple feet of each other, for hours at a time. They're able to cross within inches in the hallways and sleep on the same bed at night as though they've been sharing the same space for years. We are so proud of our girls! It has been a wonderful Christmas this year, and we cannot thank you enough for this sweet little addition to our family. Happy New Year to all! |

Things are going good and getting better. I think Tazley is warming up to us nicely, and we enjoy her company. She also seems to be more comfortable in the house and yard, she will lay down and sleep in the middle of the floor instead of under tables and chairs and now and has definite favorite spots in the yard for business. She hasn't shown any tendency to bolt, she sits well away from the door when we are going in and out without her and will sit and wait patiently when we put her leash on for exercise time. |

Hey! Hynes just wanted to check in and say "hi"! We love him. What a cutie. We have been doing 4 mile walks everyday and still trying to see how we can climb a tree to snag a squirrel!
We love our new pup! Hynes, aka Hines, will be on week Three of the Dog Obedience Classes this Wednesday.
Roger & my arms are getting quite the workout as we reel him in with a "heel" as he is desperate to "catch a car" - or any motorized object, for that matter!
He is as smart as a whip; and is the model student in class.
Hope your week is going great.

Sophie is adjusting more and more each day and is doing very well with her training. Any issues that confuse her are usually on my end.
She's an absolute delight and we are enjoying her so much. She knows when I'm working and will quietly approach me when I hang up the phone or put down my computer to see if it's her time to come sit with me. She's so smart and it's amazing how quickly she learns new commands. I take her for puppy play time once each week and she is interacting with the staff and other dogs more with each visit.
Also, the flaxseed you recommended for her skin is working great.
Thanks, Susan

Bailey (formally Diva) is still doing great and has pretty much settled into her new home and new routine. She loves the cats and they have fully adjusted to her being here. In fact, she now climbs the steps to the second floor and comes down them at will, all thanks to her motivation to follow the cats around. She still "howls" sometimes if you leave her alone downstairs and it is very funny. The vet visit went well. In fact, they think she may even be a little younger than 5 years old. Her coat and skin looked good and her weight was perfect at 16 lbs. Our vet liked the 1/4 cup of food twice a day so we'll be continuing that regimen.
Her travel to my mother's house was a non-event. She loved my dad. I think she must have had a man who took care of her. She tends to go to them first.
Thank you guys so much for finding her for us!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome! We are delighted to have Seba in our home - She got to meet her grandparents (and their own new sheltie) last night and duly impressed them with her ebullient affection and training. She certainly knows how to impress! My mom loves her soft coat and has thinks she looks like a little arctic fox. The only issue we've run into so far is very loud inopportune barking—we're talking an hour of barking after being placed in her pen while Sue was trying to work (Sue works from home and couldn't get much work done yesterday until I got home and created a diversion). I've advised Sue to put her in her crate 30 minutes before a phone conference and cover it to see if that helps -- it seems Seba is OK with her crate/pen if she thinks we're not around, but will bark incessantly if she sees us or knows we're home.

Buddy's favorite things: Frisbee (catching it and tug of war), sniffing the cats and running after them if they run away (he thinks they want to play chase), ice cubes, whatever YOU are eating (even though he is not allowed any people food), walks and runs (if you can keep up with him, still on the leash until the fence and gate are finished in mid-June!), daily brush time (it's like his spa appointment), going after water from the garden hose sprayer (I've never seen anyone so excited to see a hose, nor so unwilling to leave it - can't wait to see him with the sprinkler), anything or anyone that walks by, meeting new people, the couches, cows, riding in the car, pets and belly rubs, sniffing at the window, treats, any pill that comes stuck in peanut butter, dental care oral spray, following whoever moves, when a human comes home

These are some of the pictures we have taken of Prince. He is still timid about going to Paul and Stephen but making some progress with Paul when Paul has food. He will take the food, back off and then bark. We took Prince to the vet yesterday. He checked out fine. His ear is almost well, we need to use the medicine the rest of this week. The Dr. told us that Prince has a cataract and that also is making it more difficult for him to see. He was so good in the vet office . Of course they all were women!!!!.
We are enjoying him immensely, sleeps in my room on the floor and when I tell "Him that I am going to sleep and say go to bed now", he goes to his spot and I never know he is there. In the morning he stays in his spot until my legs come out of the bed and than he is right there and happy to see me.
Hope you are doing well. Sincerely, Virginia Anne & Cathy |

So that's my first week, thank you so much for finding me such a wonderful forever home. I've got it "made in the shade" here and with each passing day I get more and more "at home". The vet said I'd just blossom in a few months. But mom and dad love me just the way I am so t hey are in no big hurry to change me. They tell everyone I'm a shy girl but that's ok and I can have all the time I need to "settle in". |
